Numeracy Tutoring
From number sense and arithmetic to fractions, decimals, measurement, and problem-solving, we make numbers approachable and engaging. Lessons include hands-on activities, visual strategies, and real-life examples to develop confidence, flexible thinking, and a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts.
Literacy Tutoring
Strengthening reading, writing, and spelling in line with the NSW curriculum, we use structured phonics, guided reading, and exploration of a variety of text types to build comprehension, vocabulary, and writing skills. Lessons also include explicit teaching of grammar and sentence structure, making literacy engaging and meaningful.
Extension
Many tutoring programs extend students by simply moving them onto higher-grade content or teaching advanced algorithms that can limit flexible thinking. At Great Ideas, extension is about going deeper, not faster. We tailor lessons to challenge gifted and high-achieving students through critical thinking, reasoning, problem-solving, and rich discussion. Students are encouraged to explore multiple strategies and explain their thinking to build deep understanding.
